What 100% PVC-free means — and what it does not
We use one sustainability claim about composition, and we use it precisely: our media contains no polyvinyl chloride anywhere in the product — not in the face, not in the coating, not in the backing.
This page sets out what follows from that, and what it deliberately does not claim, so you can specify with confidence rather than with adjectives.
What the claim covers
- No polyvinyl chloride in the face, the coating or the backing of the product.
- No PVC plasticisers, because there is no PVC in the sheet that would need them.
- Raw materials sourced responsibly, with a traceable supply chain.
- Printable with the current generation of eco-friendly inks and digital imaging processes.
- Designed to minimise waste during installation and replacement.
What the claim does not, on its own, assert
It is not the same as “recyclable”
Recyclability depends on local facilities and on what happened to the sheet after printing — laminates and adhesives change the answer. Our media is paper- and nonwoven-based, which fits streams contractors already collect, but confirm the route for your project.
It is not a low-VOC certificate
Emissions from a finished graphic depend on the ink chemistry and curing as much as on the substrate. If indoor air quality is specified, the ink belongs in the specification alongside the media.
It is not a fire classification
Reaction-to-fire requirements apply to the installed assembly of media, ink and any laminate, and depend on your jurisdiction and the space. Ask us and your print provider for documentation covering the finished graphic.
How to write it into a specification
Name the requirement rather than the mood. “Substrate to contain no polyvinyl chloride” is auditable; “eco-friendly wallcovering” lets a PVC product with a recycled backing satisfy the line.
